Description

The Strike Industries Mass Driver Comp for the Gen 5 Glock 17 puts a compensator on a full-size Gen 5 without a threaded barrel. It mounts on a replacement guide rod and recoil spring assembly that ships in the box and sits at slide width ahead of the slide. Strike Industries states that the comp pushes forward as the slide moves back, so the moving mass works as a counterbalance while redirected gas holds the muzzle down. Strike describes it as keeping near-stock cycling speed. The factory Gen 5 barrel stays in the gun, and Strike says most aftermarket threaded Glock barrels also work. Strike recommends gunsmith installation and lists a 25 inch-pound torque spec for the guide rod nut.

Strike lists steel construction with a black finish and a precision CNC machined, blended, no-snag profile. The bore is widened to reduce baffle strikes and keyholing, and a 2.5 millimeter relief cut at the top rear reduces lipping and slide damage. The package includes the comp body, recoil spring, guide rod, fitment washer, guide rod head, internal spring, and a warning card. Strike does not publish a spring weight, but it states the comp is not suitable for +P or +P+ 9mm because that ammo wears out the internal spring early.

Fitment: Gen 5 Glock 17 (standard, full-size slide) only. Gen 3 and Gen 4 G17s use their own Mass Driver versions, and the Gen 5 G19 uses SI-G5-MDCOMP-C. Strike does not list the G34 Gen 5, G45, or 19X, so treat those as unverified. Designed and tested on OEM Glock and Strike Industries slides; fit on other aftermarket slides and frames is not guaranteed. No threaded barrel required.

Matching threaded barrels: SilencerCo Threaded Barrel (Glock 17 Gen 5, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); Faxon Match Series Flame Fluted Threaded Barrel (Glock 17 Gen 5, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); Ballistic Advantage Threaded Barrel (Glock 17 Gen 5, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); Ballistic Advantage Threaded Barrel (Glock 17 Gen 5, 9mm, 1/2×28, Gold PVD).

Who it’s for

Gen 5 G17 shooters building a USPSA Limited Optics or Open gun, or a PCSL 2-Gun or Tactical Games pistol, who want to keep the factory barrel.

Who should skip it

Gen 3 and Gen 4 G17s and any G19 need a different Mass Driver part. If you already run a threaded Gen 5 barrel, the Faxon EXOS-553 is a one-ounce thread-on comp that Faxon lists for the Gen 5 G17, G19, and G34, and it pairs with the threaded barrels we carry for the Glock 17 Gen 5. Anyone who wants to keep shooting +P should go thread-on as well. USPSA Production and Carry Optics and IDPA SSP and CO do not allow compensators; IDPA CCP and ESP rules vary, so check the rulebook.
