Description
The Smart-Fit AR15 Vise Block With Sleeve For AR10 is a lower receiver holder that clamps in a bench vise and grips the rifle through the magwell. Real Avid states that magwell tolerances vary widely, so this block expands to fit instead of wobbling. For a shooter with both a 5.56 carbine and a .308 gas gun, one block covers both lowers.
Real Avid lists a simple method: insert the block into the magwell and turn the adjustment handle until the fit is snug. The body is engineering grade resin with a knurled vise edge and a cutout that lets the mag catch lock the lower in place. Upright, it gives a steady base for buffer tube work. Inverted, it opens up the pistol grip and trigger area, though Real Avid notes the magazine lock does not engage in that position. The AR10 sleeve slides over the AR15 block and tightens with the same handle. In the box: the block and the sleeve.
Fitment: Real Avid lists all MIL-SPEC .223/5.56 AR15 magwells, plus AR10 pattern lowers such as the DPMS LR-308 and SR-25 with the sleeve installed. It will NOT hold an upper receiver, it will NOT fit AR9 pistol caliber lowers (Real Avid sells a separate Smart-Fit block for AR9), and Real Avid’s guide says it is NOT for high torque work such as barrel nut installation. Real Avid does not confirm fit on other .308 patterns.

Who should skip it
If you only own AR15s, Real Avid sells the Smart-Fit AR15 Vise Block by itself without the sleeve. If your job is barrel nut or muzzle device torque, you need an upper receiver block such as the Lug-Lok, which comes in the AR15 Armorer’s Master Kit.
