Description

The Faxon EXOS-525 is a compact compensator shaped to match the slide profile of the SIG P365 and P365 XL. Faxon built it to sit flush with the slide on its own P365 threaded barrels, so the pistol keeps a clean line instead of a round can hanging off the muzzle. It threads onto a 1/2×28 barrel, is timed by hand so the ports point up, then locked in place with two 6-32 set screws. A threaded barrel is required; the P365 and P365 XL do not ship with one. See the threaded barrels we carry for the P365 and P365 XL from Faxon, True Precision, and Zaffiri.

Faxon machines the EXOS-525 from 6061 aluminum in Ohio and black anodizes it. It uses a single expansion chamber with three ports cut at 45 degrees. In the box: the comp, a vial of thread locker for the barrel threads, two 6-32 set screws, and a 1/16 inch hex wrench. Faxon says it is generally compatible with standard pressure and +P ammunition without a spring change, recommends starting with standard 115 to 124 grain loads, and notes that very light target loads can occasionally fail to lock the slide back on the last round. A lighter recoil spring is described as optional for shooters who run only light loads. Faxon publishes a 27 percent reduction in peak muzzle rise from its Ransom rest test on a P365 XL with 115 grain 9mm.

Fitment: SIG P365 and P365 XL, 9mm only. It is optimized for Faxon’s P365 threaded barrels, and Faxon states it works on other 1/2×28 barrels as long as muzzle protrusion is 0.600 inch or less. It does not fit the P320 (Faxon points to the EXOS-515), the Glock 43X or 48 (EXOS-523 or 533), or the Shield (EXOS-524). Adding a comp changes holster fit; expect to need a comp-cut holster.

Matching threaded barrels: Faxon Match Series Straight Fluted Threaded Barrel (SIG P365, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); True Precision Threaded Barrel (SIG P365, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); Zaffiri Precision Threaded Barrel (SIG P365, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); Faxon Match Series Straight Fluted Threaded Barrel (SIG P365 XL, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride).

Who it’s for

P365 and P365 XL owners shooting PCSL 2-Gun, Tactical Games, or USPSA Limited Optics and Open, where a compensator on a threaded barrel is allowed, and carry-gun shooters who want a flush comp that keeps the pistol short.

Who should skip it

If your P365 still has the factory barrel, you need a threaded barrel first, so budget for both. If you want a comp that works on any 1/2×28 pistol rather than one shaped to the P365 slide, the True Precision S Micro or the Sylvan Arms 9mm comp in this batch are the cheaper universal options. USPSA Production and Carry Optics do not allow compensators or threaded barrels with a device attached, and IDPA SSP and CO do not either; IDPA CCP and ESP rules vary, so check your rulebook before you install it.
