The Timney AR Calvin Elite is Timney’s adjustable single-stage drop-in for AR-15 builds, named for Timney gunsmith Calvin Motley and built around fitting the trigger to your hand. It is a self-contained module that installs on your rifle’s original hammer and trigger pins with no fitting, and Timney’s housing design keeps the pins from walking.
Timney lists the break at 1.5 to 2 pounds with no creep, and a 5 pound hammer spring to keep ignition reliable at that weight. Sear engagement, pull weight and over-travel are adjustable. The shoe kit is what makes it a Calvin Elite: four interchangeable red trigger shoes that adjust length of pull, cast and height so the contact point matches your grip and finger. Wear parts are A2 tool steel heat treated to Rockwell 58 with a Teflon-nickel coating, in a CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum housing anodized Timney Elite Gold. Lifetime warranty.
Fitment: mil-spec AR-15 lowers with 0.154 inch pins. Timney does not list it for AR-10 or .308 large-frame lowers or the S&W M&P 15-22.

Who should skip it
A 1.5 to 2 pound break is a range and competition trigger, not a duty or defensive one; if your AR is a hard-use carbine, go heavier. If you want a fixed-weight cassette with nothing to adjust, the Timney AR-15 Competition 3 lb straight (667-S-ST) is the simpler pick. If you want a two-stage, look at the Timney AR PRO.
