Description
The Zion Z-15 is IWI’s take on the AR-15, built and assembled at the IWI US facility. It is a direct impingement rifle in 5.56 NATO, which also runs .223 Remington, and it comes set up the way most shooters end up configuring a rifle anyway: a 15 inch free-float M-LOK handguard, a mid-length gas system, and B5 Systems furniture in place of mil-spec plastic.
The 16 inch barrel is 4150 chrome moly vanadium steel with a 1:8 twist, and IWI nitride treats it. A 1:8 twist stabilizes the 55 grain ammo most people practice with and the 69 to 77 grain match loads that matter on longer 3-gun and Tactical Games targets. IWI lists the rifle at 6.9 pounds without a magazine, with an overall length of 33 inches collapsed and 36.25 inches extended. It ships with one 30-round polymer STANAG magazine.

Who it’s for
A shooter who wants to get into 3-gun, multigun, or the Tactical Games with a complete rifle from a major manufacturer, without building one. The free-float handguard and 1:8 barrel are the right foundation. Add an LPVO, a sling, and a trigger when you are ready, and it is a match rifle.
Who should skip it
If you already know you want a lightweight profile barrel, an adjustable gas block, and a match trigger out of the box, you will replace enough parts here that a purpose-built competition rifle or a custom build makes more sense.
