Description
The Geissele Super 42 is a carbine buffer spring made from three independent strands of wire braided together, borrowed from the German MG42 machine gun. Each strand flexes on its own, which Geissele says makes the spring act as a harmonic damper. The practical result is no spring twang in your ear, less tendency to lose length over a high round count, and about 15 percent more return force than a standard spring to strip rounds from a dirty mag or feed steel case.
This combo pairs the Super 42 spring with a Geissele H2 carbine buffer, which weighs 4.6 oz. The two are a matched set. Geissele states the braided spring will not fit over a standard buffer, so you cannot mix and match. It fits carbine length receiver extensions only, not rifle length or A5 tubes. Install is the normal buffer swap: pull the old buffer and spring, drop these in.
Heads up: Geissele does not recommend this combo for 300 Blackout subsonic loads. The stronger spring and H2 weight can short stroke a low-gas subsonic setup.

Who should skip it
Rifle length and A5 receiver extensions will not take this spring. If your rifle already runs soft and flat with a standard carbine buffer, an H2 plus a stiffer spring can make the bolt sluggish, especially with light 3-Gun loads. 300 Blackout subsonic shooters should stay with a standard spring and a lighter buffer.
