Description
The Faxon Duty Series threaded barrel is a lower-cost drop-in barrel for the Glock 17 Gen 2 through Gen 4 with a 1/2×28 muzzle for a suppressor or compensator. Faxon positions the Duty line as a working barrel rather than a match barrel, machined in-house at its Ohio plant with tolerances the company says are tighter than factory. No gunsmithing is needed for a factory slide.
Instead of stainless, Faxon machines the Duty Series from stress-relieved 4150 chrome moly vanadium steel and finishes it with salt bath nitride inside and out, which is the same steel and treatment used on most AR barrels. Rifling is conventional button-cut with a one in ten twist and the chamber is 9mm SAAMI. Faxon lists the length at 4.94 in and backs it with the Faxon lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects. Faxon’s product page does not list a thread protector, so plan on a 1/2×28 protector if you will not run a device on it full time.
Fitment: Glock 17 Gen 2, 3, and 4 factory slides. Faxon sells a separate Gen 5 barrel; this one will not work in a Gen 5 G17. Faxon also notes a known compatibility problem with some Zaffiri Precision slides (ZPS.3v2 and ZPS.6 patterns) because of the top window size and placement.

Who it’s for
Gen 3 and Gen 4 G17 shooters who want threads for a can or comp at the lowest cost in this lineup, including PCSL and Tactical Games pistols and Limited Optics or Open guns running a comp.
Who should skip it
The trade-off is the steel: 4150 CMV with nitride holds up fine, but if you want stainless and broach-cut rifling for accuracy work, the True Precision Gen 1-4 barrel or the Rival Arms Gen 3/4 barrel are the step up. Gen 5 G17 owners need the Ballistic Advantage or SilencerCo Gen 5 barrel instead. And USPSA Production and Carry Optics do not allow a threaded barrel with a device attached.
