Strike Industries Mass Driver Compensator – Glock 17 Gen 3, 9mm, Guide Rod Mount, Black

// Quick Overview

The Strike Industries Mass Driver for the Gen 3 Glock 17 is a reciprocating steel compensator that mounts on a replacement guide rod, not the barrel, so the stock unthreaded barrel works. Slide-width profile fits open-bottom holsters. Gen 3 full-size G17 only.

Description

The Strike Industries Mass Driver Comp for the Gen 3 Glock 17 is the full-size version of Strike’s guide-rod mounted compensator. It does not thread onto the barrel. A replacement guide rod and recoil spring assembly in the box carries the comp in front of the slide at slide width. Strike Industries states that when the gun fires, the comp pushes forward as the slide moves back, and that moving mass plus redirected gas is what counters felt recoil and muzzle rise. The factory unthreaded G17 barrel stays in the gun, and Strike says most aftermarket threaded Glock barrels also work. Strike recommends gunsmith installation and lists a 25 inch-pound torque spec for the guide rod nut.

Strike lists steel construction with a black finish and a precision CNC machined, blended, no-snag profile. The bore is widened to reduce baffle strikes and keyholing, and a 2.5 millimeter relief cut at the top rear reduces lipping and slide damage. The package includes the comp body, recoil spring, guide rod, fitment washer, guide rod head, internal spring, and a warning card. Strike does not publish a spring weight, but it warns that +P and +P+ 9mm ammo will wear out the internal spring early and cause failure.

Fitment: Gen 3 Glock 17 (standard, full-size slide) only. Strike states it is not compatible with Gen 4 or Gen 5 pistols, and the compact Gen 3 G19 uses SI-G3-MDCOMP-C. Strike does not list the G34 or other Gen 3 models, so treat those as unverified. Designed and tested on OEM Glock and Strike Industries slides; fit on other aftermarket slides and frames is not guaranteed. No threaded barrel required.

Matching threaded barrels: True Precision Threaded Barrel (Glock 17 Gen 1-4, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); Faxon Duty Series Threaded Barrel (Glock 17 Gen 3/4, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); Rival Arms Precision Threaded Barrel (Glock 17 Gen 3/4, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black PVD).

Who it’s for

Gen 3 G17 shooters who want a comp on a stock barrel for USPSA Limited Optics or Open, PCSL 2-Gun, or Tactical Games, including Gen 3 clone builds on OEM-pattern slides.

Who should skip it

Gen 4 and Gen 5 G17 owners need the matching version, and a G19 needs the compact part. If you already have a threaded Gen 3 barrel, the Faxon EXOS-513 is a lighter thread-on option that Faxon lists for the Gen 3 G17, and it pairs with the threaded barrels we carry for the Glock 17. Shooters who run +P should also go thread-on, since Strike warns against it here. USPSA Production and Carry Optics and IDPA SSP and CO do not allow compensators; IDPA CCP and ESP rules vary, so check the rulebook.
