Description
The Sylvan Arms 9mm compensator is a set screw mounted comp that Sylvan shaped to match a Glock slide, so it reads as an extension of the pistol rather than a round muzzle device. It threads onto a 1/2×28 barrel, gets timed with the ports up, and is locked with set screws using the included Allen wrench. A threaded barrel is required. Sylvan states it will work on any 1/2×28 threaded 9mm pistol, with the caveat that some pistols may be incompatible because of slide geometry.
Sylvan lists the comp at 1.2 inches long and 2.6 ounces and ships it with an Allen wrench for the set screws. Sylvan’s product page does not publish the material, finish process, or port layout, and it gives no recoil spring or ammunition guidance, so plan to test your load and spring before a match. Retailer listings describe the finish as black.
Fitment: Sylvan confirms Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glocks. Sylvan does not list Gen 5 on its page, and the Gen 5 slide nose is a different shape, so treat Gen 5 fit as unconfirmed. On non-Glock pistols with 1/2×28 barrels it will thread on, but the slide-matched shape may not line up. The threaded barrels we carry for the Glock 17 and 19 (Gen 3 and 4) from SilencerCo, Ballistic Advantage, True Precision, Faxon, and Rival Arms are the natural match. A comp changes holster fit.
Matching threaded barrels: True Precision Threaded Barrel (Glock 17 Gen 1-4, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); Faxon Duty Series Threaded Barrel (Glock 17 Gen 3/4, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); Rival Arms Precision Threaded Barrel (Glock 17 Gen 3/4, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black PVD); Rival Arms Precision Threaded Barrel (Glock 19 Gen 3/4, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black PVD).

Who it’s for
Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glock shooters who want a slide-matched comp at a lower price than the Zaffiri or Faxon options, for USPSA Limited Optics or Open, PCSL 2-Gun, or Tactical Games.
Who should skip it
Gen 5 Glock owners should look at the Faxon EXOS-553 or the Strike Industries Mass Driver, which are confirmed for Gen 5. If you want a comp that fits any 1/2×28 pistol regardless of slide shape, the True Precision S Micro is the safer buy. USPSA Production and Carry Optics and IDPA SSP and CO do not allow compensators; IDPA CCP and ESP rules vary, so check.
