Description
The Sons of Liberty Gun Works Scalper BCG is a full-auto profile 5.56 bolt carrier group built to the mil-spec recipe, then checked harder than most. Every bolt is individually high pressure tested and magnetic particle inspected, not batch sampled, and SOLGW test fires each assembled group. The Scalper edition adds Forward Controls Design OCKS gas key screws and a deep laser-engraved Scalper logo on the carrier. The screws are the part that matters. Gas key screws backing out is one of the few ways a good BCG fails, and OCKS screws are designed to hold their stake.
The carrier is 8620 steel with a full-auto profile and a hard chromed bore. The bolt is Carpenter 158 steel, shot peened, with a 4340 tool steel extractor and a five-coil extractor spring. The gas key is 4130 chromoly, sealed to the carrier and staked. The firing pin is 8640 steel, hard chrome plated, and the cam pin is 4340 with a dry film lube coating. Everything is manganese phosphate on the outside. It drops into any mil-spec 5.56 or .223 AR-15 upper, and works with 300 Blackout as well. Made in the USA. Weight is approximately 11.4 oz.

Who it’s for
Shooters building a duty-grade or hard-use match AR who want a mil-spec weight BCG with individual inspection on every bolt and gas key screws that will not back out, at a price under most boutique carriers.
Who should skip it
This is a full-weight carrier. If you are building a soft-shooting 3-Gun gun around a light buffer and adjustable gas block, a lightweight or low-mass carrier will get you a flatter gun and this will not. If you just want a phosphate BCG and do not care about the OCKS screws or the engraving, SOLGW’s standard BCG is a few dollars less.
