Description

The Apex Polymer Action Enhancement Kit is the lower-cost version of Apex’s three-part drop-in kit for Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glock pistols in 9mm, .40 S&W and .357 SIG. Apex says it delivers the same upgrades as the aluminum kit in a budget-friendly option; the difference is a molded polymer shoe in place of the anodized aluminum one. It replaces the factory trigger and trigger bar, the connector and the firing pin safety plunger, and reuses the factory trigger housing and springs. Apex lists it as a direct drop-in with no fitting required.

Apex states the kit will reduce trigger pull weight by approximately one pound, shorten pre-travel, overall travel and reset distance, and give a smooth uptake and reset with a crisp trigger break. The shoe is red polymer in Apex’s Classic profile: flat face, radiused front corners, flat sides, with a center-mounted pivoting safety blade. In the box: the Polymer Action Enhancement Trigger already pinned to a Gen 3 trigger bar (Apex says the bar finish may be matte or bright nickel), an Apex Performance Connector, and an Apex Ultimate Safety Plunger. Apex states the center-mounted pivoting safety maintains factory safety values.

Fitment: Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glock 17, 17L, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34 and 35, MOS or not. It will NOT fit Gen 5 or Gen 6 pistols, the 10mm and .45 caliber frames (G20, G21, G29, G30, G37, G38, G39, G40, G41), or the slimline G42, G43, G43X and G48. Apex certifies it for factory Glock frames only, does not recommend it in aftermarket frames, and says it is not for Shadow Systems pistols. Apex states it is not for use with any forced reset trigger system.

Also in the Pro Shop: Timney Alpha for Gen 3-4, Tyrant CNC I.T.T.S. for Gen 3-4, threaded barrels for Glock.

Who it’s for

Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glock shooters on a budget in USPSA Production, Carry Optics, Limited and Limited Optics, Steel Challenge, PCSL and the Tactical Games who want the Apex trigger feel and a red shoe that stands out on the bench.

Who should skip it

If you want metal under your finger, Apex’s aluminum Gen 3/4 kit is the same parts with an anodized shoe. Gen 5 and slimline owners need Apex’s other kits; this one will not fit. Anyone chasing a sub three pound pull should look at the Timney Alpha for Gen 3 and 4 or the Tyrant CNC I.T.T.S. instead, and if you would rather stay all-Glock, the factory Glock Performance Trigger is the other route (Apex says its kits cannot be combined with it). A lighter trigger is a range and competition part; many agencies and some instructors say no for duty or carry guns. Division check: aftermarket triggers are legal in USPSA Carry Optics, Limited, Limited Optics, Open and Production; USPSA Production has no minimum pull weight and allows aftermarket triggers under rule 21.6, but read the current rulebook. IDPA SSP and CO require factory or IDPA-listed replacement parts, so check the IDPA equipment rules. PCSL and the Tactical Games do not restrict triggers.
