Description
The Timney Alpha Pivot is the Alpha Competition trigger for Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glocks fitted with Timney’s alternate trigger shoe. Instead of the familiar center blade that sticks out of the trigger face, this shoe uses what Timney calls an “internal pivoting safety”: the lower part of the flat face hinges and must be pressed to release the trigger, so the shoe reads as a clean, flat trigger with no blade under your finger. Timney says it is for shooters who “want an alternative to the traditional blade-style trigger safety.” Everything else is standard Alpha: Timney’s aluminum sear housing, machined trigger bar and shoe replace the factory trigger, bar and housing, and Timney states it “uses all stock Glock parts and springs,” so your factory connector, firing pin, and firing pin safety spring stay in the gun. Timney lists it as “ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH STOCK GLOCK PISTOLS – INTENDED FOR COMPETITION USE ONLY,” and says it “can be installed easily with no gunsmith needed.” Budget a Glock armorer tool or a 3/32 punch and bench block to drive the trigger pin and housing pin.
Timney lists a 3 pound pull weight and a “crisp trigger break.” The shoe is a straight, flat face aluminum trigger with the pivoting safety built in, anodized black. The trigger bar and sear are Teflon nickel (NP3) coated, which Timney says “virtually eliminates friction.” A retailer listing (GlockStore) itemizes the box as the flat face aluminum trigger with internal pivoting safety, the sear, return springs, and a C washer; Timney’s blog describes those return springs as a light gray and a heavier red so you can pick reset feel. Timney does not publish pre-travel or reset distances. Timney’s blog notes a pre-travel adjustment in the sear housing and warns that taking out too much pre-travel can partially disengage the factory safeties. On safeties, Timney’s blog states that “all three factory Glock safeties are also fully functional with the Alpha. The drop safety, firing pin stop, and trigger safety all work the same as the stock setup.” Thing to know: the pivoting face changes how the trigger safety feels. There is no blade to find with your fingertip, so the safety releases as the whole lower face moves, which some shooters like and some find vague. Try one on a friend’s gun if you can.
Fitment: Gen 3 and Gen 4 double stack Glocks in 9mm, .40 S&W and .357 SIG. Timney and its retailers list the G17, G19, G22, G23, G26, G27, G31, G32, G33, G34 and G35 (Gen 3 G17L and G24 also use this housing). MOS slides do not matter to the trigger. It will NOT fit any Gen 5 Glock (G17, G19, G19X, G26, G34, G45, G47), which use a different trigger housing and take the Gen 5 Pivot. It will NOT fit the large frame 10mm and .45 guns (G20, G21, G29, G30, G40, G41), which take Timney’s large frame pivot. It will NOT fit the slimline G42, G43, G43X or G48. Timney states it is compatible only with stock Glock pistols, so aftermarket connectors, frames or fire control parts are not covered.

Who it’s for
Gen 3 and Gen 4 G17, G34, G22 and G35 shooters in USPSA Limited, Limited Optics, Carry Optics or Open who want the Alpha’s 3 pound break without a blade in the middle of the trigger face, and Gen 3 G19 or G26 owners who shoot PCSL or steel matches.
Who should skip it
If you shoot a Gen 5, you need the Gen 5 Pivot we also carry; this housing will not fit. If you like a blade you can feel and index on, the standard Gen 3-4 Alpha in black or red is the same trigger with the conventional safety. A 3 pound striker-fired trigger is a range and competition trigger, not a duty or carry trigger; many departments and some instructors say no, and Timney labels this for competition only. For a milder change that keeps the factory housing, a Glock Performance Trigger or an Apex or Overwatch Precision shoe is the alternative. USPSA Production and Carry Optics allow aftermarket triggers, bars, connectors and springs with no minimum pull weight, as long as the trigger safety still works and the pistol is on the approved list; Limited, Limited Optics and Open have no trigger rules. IDPA SSP allows internal trigger work but no visible external changes, so an aftermarket shoe is out; IDPA ESP, CCP and CO allow replacement triggers but not add-on trigger shoes. Read the current rulebook before a major.
