Description

The Rival Arms 9mm conversion barrel for the Glock 22 lets you shoot 9mm through a .40 S&W Gen 3 or Gen 4 G22 by swapping only the barrel. It is threaded 1/2×28 for a compensator or suppressor and finished in black PVD. Rival Arms builds it as a drop-in part with no gunsmith work; the .40 caliber slide, extractor, and ejector run 9mm well enough in most guns, though some shooters swap the ejector for a 9mm part for cleaner brass ejection. Rival Arms states you will also need a 9mm magazine, meaning Glock 17 mags, to complete the conversion.

Rival Arms machines the barrel from 416R stainless steel billet with a 1:10 twist, 6 groove bore and a target crowned muzzle. The outside gets a low-temperature vacuum PVD coating and the bore gets Rival’s BORSLICK boron nitride treatment for easier cleaning. The barrel is fluted. Rival Arms builds and sources everything in the USA and lists a limited lifetime warranty. Retailers list the length at 4.49 inches, which matches the factory G22 barrel with threads added.

Fitment: Rival Arms and its retailers list this barrel (part RA20G412A) for the Glock 22 Gen 3 and Gen 4. It is not listed for the Gen 5 G22, which has a different hood and lug profile. It will not fit the Glock 23 (Rival makes a separate compact version in this batch), the Glock 17, or the Glock 35. Because this is a caliber conversion, you must use 9mm magazines; .40 magazines will not feed 9mm reliably.

Pairs with: True Precision S Micro Compensator (1/2×28, 9mm, Black DLC); True Precision Cobra Micro Compensator (1/2×28, 9mm, Black Nitride).

Who it’s for

Owners of a Gen 3 or Gen 4 Glock 22 who want to shoot cheaper 9mm for practice or matches, and PCSL or Tactical Games shooters who want a threaded 9mm full-size Glock without buying a second pistol.

Who should skip it

If you have a Gen 5 Glock 22, this barrel is not listed for it. If you shoot a Glock 23, use the Rival Arms G23 conversion barrel in this batch. If you already own a Glock 17, a straight 9mm threaded barrel from Ballistic Advantage or True Precision is the simpler route. One thing to know: a converted G22 still uses .40 breech face and extractor, so test ejection with your match ammo before you rely on it. In USPSA a converted G22 shooting 9mm is fine in Limited Optics or Open with a device attached, but Production and Carry Optics do not allow threaded barrels with a device.
