Description

Super Vel 5.56 NATO 77gr OTM BT is factory-new match rifle ammo loaded to 5.56 pressure. Super Vel lists it at 2,850 fps from a 20 inch barrel, which it says is 100 to 125 fps faster than its .223 Remington version of the same bullet. The 77 grain open tip match boat tail is the weight that holds up in wind past 300 yards. This is the 500-round case, packed as ten 50-round boxes, so you can keep one lot for a whole season of long-range stages.

The bullet is a jacketed lead-core OTM with a G1 ballistic coefficient of .352 and G7 of .176 per Super Vel. Cartridge overall length is 2.245 inch. Super Vel calls for a 1:8 or faster twist to stabilize the 77 grain bullet. You get ten 50-round boxes in a case, no loose bags.

Heads up: this is loaded to 5.56 NATO pressure and Super Vel does not recommend it in rifles chambered in .223 Remington. Ammunition ships ground only and requires an adult signature at delivery. We cannot ship ammunition to addresses where it is prohibited.

Who it’s for

3-Gun and Tactical Games shooters with a 1:8 or 1:7 twist 5.56 rifle who shoot enough long-range stages to want a single lot of 77 grain match ammo on hand, plus precision carbine shooters who train past 300 yards.

Who should skip it

Skip it if your rifle is stamped .223 Remington, since Super Vel loads this to 5.56 pressure and says not to run it in .223 chambers. A 1:9 twist may not stabilize 77 grain bullets. Five hundred rounds of match ammo is a big buy for a load you have not shot, so start with the 50-round box. For close-range practice, the Super Vel Certified Select .223 55gr FMJ costs a fraction as much and does the job.
