Description

The Strike Industries Mass Driver Comp for the Gen 5 Glock 19 is the thread-free route to a compensated G19. It mounts on a replacement guide rod and recoil spring assembly that ships in the box, and it sits at slide width in front of the Gen 5 slide. Strike Industries states that the comp pushes forward as the slide travels back, so the moving mass counterbalances recoil while the comp also redirects gas to keep the muzzle down. The stock Gen 5 barrel stays put; Strike also says it works with most aftermarket threaded Glock barrels. Strike recommends installation by a gunsmith and lists a 25 inch-pound torque spec for the guide rod nut.

Strike’s product copy describes precision CNC machined steel with a manganese phosphate finish and a blended, no-snag profile. The bore is widened to reduce baffle strikes and keyholing, and a 2.5 millimeter relief cut at the top rear reduces lipping and slide wear. The package includes the comp body, recoil spring, guide rod, fitment washer, guide rod head, internal spring, and a warning card. Strike does not publish a spring weight, but it states the comp is not suitable for +P or +P+ 9mm because that ammo wears out the internal spring early.

Fitment: Gen 5 Glock 19 only. Strike states it is not compatible with Gen 3 pistols, and Gen 4 has its own version. The Gen 5 G17 uses SI-G5-MDCOMP-S. Strike does not list the G45 or 19X, so treat those as unverified. Designed and tested on OEM Glock and Strike Industries slides; fit on other aftermarket slides and frames is not guaranteed. No threaded barrel required.

Matching threaded barrels: Ballistic Advantage Threaded Barrel (Glock 19 Gen 3-5, 19X, 45, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); Ballistic Advantage Threaded Barrel (Glock 19 Gen 3-5, 19X, 45, 9mm, 1/2×28, Copper PVD); Faxon Match Series Flame Fluted Threaded Barrel (Glock 19 Gen 2-5, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride); True Precision Threaded Barrel (Glock 19 Gen 1-5, 19X, 45, 9mm, 1/2×28, Stainless).

Who it’s for

Gen 5 G19 shooters who want a compensator without changing barrels, for USPSA Limited Optics or Open, PCSL 2-Gun, and Tactical Games.

Who should skip it

Gen 3 and Gen 4 G19 owners need the matching Mass Driver version, and the G17 Gen 5 needs the full-size part. If you already own a threaded Gen 5 barrel, or want to keep shooting +P, the Faxon EXOS-553 thread-on comp is the simpler choice, and it pairs with the threaded barrels we carry for the Glock 19 Gen 5. Installation calls for a gunsmith per Strike, and the stiff internal spring is the part most people struggle with. USPSA Production and Carry Optics and IDPA SSP and CO do not allow compensators; IDPA CCP and ESP rules vary, so check the rulebook.
