Scope ring screws have a torque spec for a reason. Too loose and your zero walks. Too tight and you crack a ring, strip a screw, or warp the tube. A torque tool takes the guesswork out of it, and the fixed limiter approach in this kit makes it about as simple as it gets.
The six pre-set limiters (15, 20, 25, 30, 45, and 65 in-lb) cover the torque values you’ll hit most often — scope rings, mount screws, action screws, and rail hardware. You attach the limiter between the X3 Driver and the bit, tighten until it clicks, and you’re done. No dialing in a value, no remembering to reset the tool to zero after use like you need to with an adjustable torque wrench. Just grab the right limiter and go.
The X3 Driver itself converts between a ratcheting driver, T-handle, and standard screwdriver, which is useful for switching between tight spaces and applications that need more leverage. The 72-tooth ratchet head keeps increments small enough for precise work.
The included 12-bit set covers the basics — hex, Torx, Phillips, and flat — but it’s limited. If you work on a variety of firearms and accessories, you’ll likely supplement with additional bits fairly quickly. The 1/4″ hex drive is standard, so any aftermarket bits work.

The Real Avid Smart-Torq Fixed Limiter & X3 Driver Kit combines six pre-set torque limiters with a 3-in-1 ratcheting driver and a 12-piece bit set for torque-critical gunsmithing tasks like scope mounting, rail installation, and action screw tightening.
The six fixed limiters are set at 15, 20, 25, 30, 45, and 65 in-lb — the most common torque values for optic rings, mount bases, and action screws. Each limiter uses a click-style overload clutch rated to ±5% accuracy. You thread the limiter between the driver and the bit, tighten until you feel and hear the click, and stop. Unlike adjustable torque wrenches, fixed limiters don’t need to be dialed back to zero for storage, and there’s no risk of accidentally leaving the tool set to the wrong value between tasks.
The X3 Driver is a 1/4″ hex drive tool that converts between three configurations: a 72-tooth ratcheting driver for precise work in tight spaces, a T-handle for added leverage, and a standard inline screwdriver for general use. The non-slip grip is comfortable for extended use.
The 12-piece bit set includes six hex bits, four Torx bits, one #2 Phillips, and one 5mm flat bit. A 4-inch extension handles long-reach fasteners like grip screws and buttstock bolts. A 1/4″ hex-to-1/4″ square adapter and 1/2″ socket round out the kit. All bits are standard 1/4″ hex, so the kit works with any aftermarket bits you already own.
Everything stores in a hard-sided, stackable case. Additional fixed limiters are sold individually in values from 7 to 100 in-lb if your work requires settings outside the six included values.
