Description

The Radian Afterburner and Ramjet is a two piece system: a Ramjet match grade barrel and an Afterburner micro compensator that only works with that barrel. This is the Glock 19 Gen 5 version in Radian’s black and gray colorway, and it ships as the complete combo (barrel plus comp). Radian built it to give a carry size Glock a compensator without a threaded barrel. The Ramjet has no threads. Instead, Radian’s Intra-Lok mount uses a tapered locking screw that seats in an angled V-groove on the underside of the barrel. You drop the Ramjet into the slide in place of the factory barrel, slide the Afterburner over the muzzle, and torque the screw to 15 inch pounds (Radian’s published figure). No shims, crush washer, or thread locker are involved, and the comp comes off for cleaning by backing out one screw.

Radian machines the Ramjet from hardened 416R stainless steel with flutes, a gas sealing chamber, and a loaded chamber indicator cut. The Afterburner is hardened stainless steel. Both parts wear Radian’s Radianite coating, here in black on the barrel and gray on the comp. Gas exits through a single top port; there are no side ports. Radian lists the added length at 0.47 inch, which takes a G19 slide out to Glock 17 length so it drops into most open bottom G17 holsters. Radian publishes a recoil reduction figure of up to 44 percent with 115 grain ammunition. On springs, Radian’s stated design goal was reliable cycling with the stock recoil spring, and Radian sells a separate Compressor guide rod with 13, 15, and 18 pound springs for people who want to tune. In the box: the Ramjet barrel, the Afterburner, the Intra-Lok tapered screw, and a Torx bit.

Fitment: Radian lists this version for the Glock 19 Gen 5, Glock 19X, and Glock 45 (all share the Gen 5 barrel pattern). MOS slides are fine; the optic cut does not affect the barrel. It will not fit a Gen 3 or Gen 4 G19 (Radian sells separate Gen 3 and Gen 4 versions), will not fit the new Gen 6 G19 or G45 (Radian says the Gen 5 system is not compatible with Gen 6 and sells a dedicated Gen 6 version), and will not fit a G17 or G34. Radian states fitment for factory Glock slides; it does not publish a list of approved aftermarket slides, so treat any aftermarket slide as unverified. The Afterburner does not fit any other barrel, and the Ramjet does not accept any other comp.

Who it’s for

Gen 5 G19, 19X, or 45 shooters in USPSA Limited Optics or Open, PCSL 2-Gun, and Tactical Games who want a compensator that comes off in seconds and keeps the gun at G17 holster length. It also suits a carry gun that already lives in a G17 length holster.

Who should skip it

If your G19 is a Gen 3, Gen 4, or Gen 6, this is the wrong version; Radian makes a separate combo for each. If you already own a threaded barrel and want to keep it, the Strike Industries Mass Driver or Faxon EXOS for Gen 5 costs less than buying a barrel you do not need. Division rules: USPSA Production and Carry Optics do not allow a compensator, and IDPA SSP and CO do not either; IDPA CCP and ESP rules vary, so check the current rulebook before you install it.
