Description
The Backup Tactical Frag thread protector is a cap for the 1/2×28 muzzle threads on a 9mm or 22 LR pistol barrel. Backup Tactical builds it to keep threads clean and unmarred when no suppressor or comp is mounted, and the frag-pattern knurl gives fingers something to grip so you can spin it on and off without tools. It threads on by hand; no fitting is involved.
Backup Tactical lists the material as 7075 aluminum alloy, which it calls the strongest firearms-grade aluminum, and finishes this version in black anodizing. Backup Tactical states it is designed for pistol thread lengths, so it will not hang past the end of the threads the way a rifle-length protector can. One thing to know: neither Backup Tactical nor its dealers mention an O-ring, so on a hard-recoiling gun a drop of blue thread locker or a periodic check keeps it from loosening. The aluminum body is also softer than a steel cap, so keep it off the concrete.
Fitment: any pistol barrel threaded 1/2×28 right hand, which covers nearly every aftermarket 9mm and 22 LR threaded barrel and factory threaded models from Glock, SIG, Springfield, Ruger, S&W and CZ. It will not fit 1/2×36 (some 9mm carbines), M13.5×1 LH (many European 9mm pistols), 5/8×24 or 9/16×24 threads. It is a pistol-length cap; for a 223/556 rifle barrel Backup Tactical sells a longer rifle version.

Who should skip it
