Description
The Athlon Rangecraft Velocity Pro is a Doppler radar chronograph. You set it 4 to 10 inches from the muzzle, point it downrange, and it reads velocity without screens, sky rods, or a barrel clamp. Because it reads the projectile and not the muzzle blast, it works with suppressors and brakes. Athlon rates it for 65 to 5,000 fps at plus or minus 0.1 percent.
The unit has a 2.4 inch transflective LCD you can read in daylight and stores 50 sessions of 100 shots each. It calculates average, standard deviation, extreme spread, kinetic energy, and power factor on the device. Bluetooth connects it to Athlon’s app and handles firmware updates. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery runs about 6 hours. The body is IP67 rated, weighs 4.7 ounces, and mounts on a 1/4-20 thread. A small tripod is included. Athlon backs it with a lifetime warranty.

Who it’s for
USPSA and PCC shooters chasing power factor, and precision rifle and Tactical Games shooters who need real muzzle velocity for a dope card. Also good for reloaders working up loads.
Who should skip it
If you only shoot factory pistol ammo and just need to make minor power factor once a season, a match chrono station or a borrowed unit does the job and saves 500 dollars. If you need to log every shot to a ballistic solver automatically, check whether Athlon’s app supports your solver before you buy.
