Description

The Backup Tactical Perfect Fit PROComp is a compensator cut to match the SIG P320 Compact slide. Backup Tactical states it “fits the contours, cuts, and lines of the factory slide seamlessly,” and the front of the comp is angled to mirror the rear of the slide. It threads onto a 1/2×28 barrel until it just touches the front of the slide, is backed off slightly for alignment, then locked with two set screws using a 5/64 Allen wrench. Backup’s installation guide gives two options for the set screws: dimple the barrel with a #29 drill bit for the screws to seat in, or use blue thread locker and torque the screws to no more than 12 inch-pounds. Backup Tactical recommends installation by a gunsmith and warns not to force the comp against the slide. A 1/2×28 threaded barrel is required and not included.

Backup Tactical machines the PROComp from aluminum alloy with a black anodized finish. The Firearm Blog’s launch coverage describes it as a single-port design. Backup Tactical claims it is “designed to reduce recoil by an impressive 50%”; that is the manufacturer’s figure. The comp ships with two set screws. Backup Tactical does not publish recoil spring or ammunition guidance for this comp, and does not publish length or weight.

Fitment: this is the Compact version (Backup Tactical part P320COMP-C-BLK) for the 9mm SIG P320 Compact, and Backup Tactical says it works with “any standard-length quality aftermarket barrel that is threaded 1/2×28.” The Backup Tactical P320 Compact threaded barrel we carry is the matching part; Backup lists that barrel for the standard Compact with the 3.9 inch factory barrel, not the discontinued X-Compact with the 3.6 inch barrel, so X-Compact owners should confirm barrel and comp fit with Backup Tactical before buying. It will not fit the P320 Full Size or X-Five (Backup sells a separate full-size comp), and it will not fit aftermarket slides with a different nose profile. You will need a holster made for a comped P320 Compact.

Matching threaded barrels: Backup Tactical Threaded Barrel (SIG P320 Compact, 9mm, 1/2×28, Black Nitride).

Who it’s for

P320 Compact shooters who already have or plan to buy a 1/2×28 threaded barrel and want a comp that keeps the slide profile for USPSA Limited Optics or Open, PCSL 2-Gun, or Tactical Games.

Who should skip it

If you shoot a P320 Full Size, X-Five, or an X-Compact with the short 3.6 inch barrel, this is not the right part; Backup Tactical sells a separate full-size comp, and the Faxon EXOS for P320 is another slide-matched option in this batch. If you would rather skip set screws and dimpling a barrel, a shoulder-indexed comp such as the Griffin Micro Carry Comp is simpler. USPSA Production and Carry Optics do not allow compensators or threaded barrels with a device attached, and IDPA SSP and CO do not allow comps; IDPA CCP and ESP rules vary, so check the rulebook.
