Description
The GrovTec G-Comp is a plain thread-on compensator for 1/2×28 9mm barrels. GrovTec describes it as “designed to redirect propellant gases and counter recoil / muzzle rise.” It mounts the way a rifle muzzle device does: thread it on over the included crush washer, then tighten until the ports are timed to the top. No shims, set screws, or thread locker are called for. A 1/2×28 threaded barrel is required and not included.
GrovTec lists the material as machined steel with a black nitride finish. The company does not publish a port count, length, or weight, and does not give recoil spring or ammunition guidance. The package includes the compensator and one crush washer. Because a crush washer only compresses once, plan on a fresh washer if you take it off and re-time it.
Fitment: GrovTec lists it by thread and caliber only: 9mm, 1/2×28. That covers threaded Glock, SIG, Springfield, Smith and Wesson, and other 9mm pistol barrels in that thread, and 9mm pistol caliber carbines. It is not shaped to any slide. It will not fit M13.5×1 LH barrels or GrovTec’s own 1/2×36 version. On a tilting-barrel pistol, make sure the barrel has enough thread protrusion for the washer plus the comp to seat. Holster fit will change.

Who it’s for
Budget-minded shooters with a threaded 9mm pistol or PCC who want a basic comp for range use, PCSL 2-Gun, Tactical Games, or USPSA Limited Optics, Open, or PCC.
Who should skip it
If you want a comp that indexes without a crush washer and stays put through cleaning, the Griffin Micro Carry Comp or Armaspec Rook thread on and torque down with wrench flats. If you carry the pistol, a slide-matched comp will be easier to holster than a round muzzle device. USPSA Production and Carry Optics do not allow compensators or threaded barrels with a device attached, and IDPA SSP and CO do not allow comps; IDPA CCP and ESP rules vary, so check the rulebook.
