Description
The P211-GTO is SIG’s factory double-stack 1911, and the Nightshift is the compensated version. It runs a 4.4 inch carbon steel bull barrel with SIG’s MACH3D compensator attached, on a stainless steel frame and slide finished in Platinum Cerakote. The controls, trigger, magwell and compensator are finished in Burnt Titanium PVD, which is the blue-bronze color in the name. The grip module is alloy with Hogue G10 panels.
SIG lists it at 46 ounces with a magazine, 8.5 inches long and 1.48 inches wide. The slide has SIG’s SIG-LOC PRO optic cut, so a red dot mounts direct without a plate, and it ships with a fiber optic front sight and a fixed black rear on a 5.56 inch sight radius. The trigger is a flat skeletonized 1911-style trigger. It comes with three P320-pattern steel magazines: one 23-round and two 21-round. There is a 1913 rail on the full-length dust cover.

Who it’s for
USPSA Open shooters, and multigun shooters who run their pistol in an open configuration. A comp, a direct-mount optic cut, a heavy steel frame and 21-plus rounds is the Open recipe, and this one comes assembled from a major manufacturer with a warranty instead of from a custom shop with a wait list.
Who should skip it
Carry Optics and Limited Optics shooters. The compensator is not legal in those divisions, and at 46 ounces it is heavy for Carry Optics even before you check the weight rule. If you compete in one of those, SIG’s non-compensated P211-GTO is the version to look at. It is also a lot of gun for someone new to 1911 manual-of-arms.
