How We Keep the Lights On (And Why You Can Trust Us)
Let’s cut to the chase: running this platform takes money. We’ve got hosting bills, travel expenses for match coverage, and an unhealthy habit of competing and buying new gear to test. Here’s how we fund all of it, and why it doesn’t change what we tell you.
We’re Competitors First
Before Action Gunner was a website, we were just shooters trying to figure out what gear actually works. That hasn’t changed. A huge chunk of what we review and recommend comes straight out of our own pockets, because we’re always chasing better performance and want to share what we learn along the way.
Not everything on this site has a dollar sign attached to it. Plenty of our reviews exist simply because we bought something, used it in competition, and figured you’d want to know how it held up.
Affiliate Links
When you click certain product links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. This doesn’t cost you anything extra—the price is the same whether you use our link or find it yourself.
Here’s the important part: affiliate relationships don’t influence what we say. If something’s garbage, we’ll tell you. If something works but has trade-offs, we’ll spell those out. We’ve turned down affiliate deals for products we wouldn’t actually recommend—because our credibility matters more than a quick payout.
The Action Gunner Pro Shop
We also run our own store now. Same rules apply. When we link to products in our shop, we’re making money on those sales. We’re upfront about that.
But here’s the thing: if we find a better deal for you somewhere else, we’ll try to link that as well. Our goal is to help you get the best value, even when that means sending you to a competitor. Your trust is worth more than any single sale.
Sponsored Content & Provided Products
Sometimes manufacturers send us gear to test or pay us to create content. When that happens, we’ll always tell you at the top of the article. But sponsorship doesn’t buy a positive review. We maintain full control over what we say, how we say it, and whether we recommend the product at all.
If a sponsored product doesn’t measure up, we’ll either say so honestly or decline to publish at all. No exceptions.
The Bottom Line
We built Action Gunner to be the resource we wished existed when we started competing: honest, practical, and written by people who actually shoot matches. Every decision we make about monetization comes back to one question: does this help or hurt our readers?
Your trust keeps this whole thing running. We don’t take that lightly.
